VSG2 A Bosch Certified Course

Designed for automotive technicians involved in diagnosis and analysis of ECU managed ignition systems, this course gives comprehensive knowledge about the operation of electronic ignition systems from their inception through to the latest distributorless systems.

Delivering the essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills applicable to the analysis of ignition related problems, this course will enable technicians to progress efficiently through the steps of test, diagnosis and repair.

Successful completion of courses VSE1 "Essential Test Procedures" and VSTD9 "Oscilloscope Operation and Signal Test Methods" is a prerequisite to attending course VSG2. Attendees should ideally have some experience in using an oscilloscope for ignition analysis. All delegates however, must be familiar with typical diagnostic tester and oscilloscope operation and should have attended the appropriate equipment operator’s courses.

The course is divided into linked modules, which allow the essential underpinning theory and practical skills knowledge to be delivered effectively.

Modules and subject areas

On successful completion of VSG 2 delegates will be able to:

• Carry out testing to determine serviceability of ignition systems and their components.
• Accurately diagnose system faults and the corrective action for system repair.
• Interpret typical ignition oscilloscope displays of ignition primary and secondary circuit performance as an aid to system diagnosis.
