This advanced system course provides in-depth technician training on the technology of Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) engine management systems, the various components used in these systems, the operational modes, and the subsequent improvements in engine efficiency and emissions control.
Developments in mechanical and electronic technology have resulted in a petrol injection system concept that is relatively complex in design and function. The aim of this course is to equip delegates with the knowledge and skills required to work with confidence and efficiency on GDI systems. The theoretical underpinning instruction will be supplemented by practical exercises involving diagnosis using serial port data, and full testing of the various system components via oscilloscope analysis.
The minimum prerequisites for this advanced vehicle systems course are the completion of courses VSG5, VSG17 and VSG 14. Prior attendance on these courses is essential for the required foundation knowledge. The completion of electronics course VSE7 in advance to this course will also be an advantage. In addition, delegates must be fully proficient in the operation of typical oscilloscope, gas analyser and diagnostic test equipment and should have attended the appropriate equipment operator’s courses.
