VSTD20 A Bosch Certified Course

This equipment course is specifically for technicians new to the use of the Bosch KTS 340 serial diagnostic tester. With an emphasis on operational skills, it covers all aspects of the KTS hardware and software operation.

Bosch diagnostic testers are designed to be user friendly with operator assistance provided by on-board help and reference menus. However, a tester design offering flexibility of application and use, can result in a variety of operating procedures. Coupled with this, knowledge on the use of equipment accessories is required for some special functions and test programmes.

An in-depth understanding of these various user features and options will enable the technician to make maximum use of the KTS in the workplace for efficient vehicle diagnosis.

Familiarity with essential computer skills and terminology is a prerequisite to attendance and prior use of the main KTS functions will be an advantage. The attainment of the user skills required to access all equipment functions is achieved by interactive use of the equipment during the course. For this reason the attendee should bring his own KTS for use during the course.

Modules and subject areas:

On successful completion of VSTD 7 delegates will be able to:

• Operate the KTS controls with proficiency and carry out machine adjustments using hardware and software functions.
• Make effective use of the ESI [tronic] information system to access technical data relevant to vehicle systems and diagnosis.
• Carry out a Control Unit Diagnosis test routine for display of error memory, actual values and actuator test modes using all available access options.
• Measure typical signals for display using the KTS test meter functions and evaluate through the use of CAS (Computer Aided Service).
• Fully integrate the functions of the SIS (Service Information System) and the System Diagnosis programme for efficient vehicle diagnosis.

To take full advantage of this course, we advise candidates to bring their own KTS equipment for utilisation purposes.
