ATA Air Conditioning Two Day Course

This is the full course for Technicians who have not received previous training or are relatively new to air conditioning. The training covers the new gas handling regulations as above, as well as a full day’s training on A/C systems, diagnosis, leak detection and correct use of equipment.

Although we have offered a choice of training to cater for all levels of experience, the assessment and accreditation process remains the same for both courses, please read the guidance notes below

Day Two

Assessment process

The assessment begins with a 30 question on line exam covering the following areas:

  • Air conditioning system operation (correct pressures and diagnostics)
  • Air conditioning system components and locations
  • Electrical Systems
  • F gas Regulations
  • Kyoto Protocol
  • Montreal Agreement
  • The effect of F-gasses on the environment

Followed by Two practical tests which include:

  • Recovery of refrigerant from an external bottle. This includes safe working practices, the correct use of PPE, calculating the quantity of refrigerant to be recovered and leak prevention.
  • Air conditioning service on a vehicle. This includes safe working practices, use of PPE, leak detection, testing of the air conditioning system for correct operation including operating pressures, fan operation, vent temperatures, identification of correct refrigerant, oil quantities and type.
