ATA Air Conditioning One Day Course

This course is for those Technicians who have sat previous training and have a good working knowledge of air conditioning systems, testing and diagnosis. The training will focus on the new gas handling regulations and will be followed by an online and practical assessment. Please note that the assessment will contain questions on systems and diagnosis not covered in the one day course, please see details of the two day course.

Assessment Process

The assessment begins with a 30 question on line exam covering the following areas:

• Air Conditioning system operation (correct pressures and diagnostics)
• Air Conditioning system components and locations
• Electrical systems
• F-gas regulations
• Kyoto Protocol
• Montreal Agreement
• The effect of F-gasses on the environment

Followed by two practical tests which include:

• Recovery of refrigerant from an external bottle. This includes safe working practices, the correct use of PPE, calculating the quantity of refrigerant to be recovered and leak prevention.
• Air conditioning service on a vehicle. This includes safe working practices, use of PPE, leak detection, testing of the air conditioning system for correct operation including operating pressures, fan operation, vent temperatures, identification of correct refrigerant, oil quantities and type.
